The Programma Operativo Nazionale (PON) is a European structural fund for Italian schools which is available until 2023.

Recently, the Italian Ministry of Education presented a 10 point action plan which included key changes for funding. The first major change is that funding is available for the whole of Italy, whereas in the past the funding was ring-fenced for less developed regions.

If your sales teams are actively engaging with agents and schools in Italy, you may have requests for Trinity exams in the coming months. The Italian Ministry of Education has just released the most recent approved projects list, and these will need to be completed by August 2019.

Whilst an end of stay examination is no longer a project requirement, it is likely that schools will still request an exam as part of their overseas study abroad programme. For short stay, this could be the Graded Examinations in Spoken English (GESE) Grades 7- 9 (B2) or for longer stay, Integrated Skills in English (ISE) II (B2).
